Logan's 3 solo days in Marrakech

I am crashing CJ and Jake's travels during September. I just spent a month traveling southeast Asia, and a month in Ireland before that.

I arrived in Marrakech on August 29th after 3 flights from Hanoi. At the airport, the guards made fun of my American accent, which would never happen in Vietnam – at least to my face. The Moroccan sass is a refreshing culture switch from the shy nodding and smiling that dominates Southeast Asia.

My solo time in Morocco is far less structured than Asia. So far, all I’ve done is wander and eat. Everything here is dry, especially the air. It reminds me of Colorado in that way. The colors are bright and the smells are subtle. There might be as many cats and scooters on the streets as people.

Right now, I’m on another rooftop terrace during sunset. The city is more welcoming at night, as it cools and lights begin to dot the blocky clay horizon. Here I am doing less but finding more to photograph and write about. The world here is striking and aesthetically complete. Each little thing has more individuality than in Vietnam, where the world is wet and busy and smudged.

I'm excited for Jake and CJ to get here!
