CJ & Jake: Where Are They Now?

Yes, I did use ChatGPT to create this blog's thumbnail. Anyway, per readership requests, Jake and I wanted to do a little comparison of our two lives. They have diverged quite a bit since he left me in Bangkok back in November.

I (CJ) am in Nepal working on an organic farm six days a week. Jake is in New York City working for a management consulting firm. He only works five days a week.

Here is a little compare and contrast of our two lifestyles:

Most importantly, our meals.








Despite our differences, we are both are solving a variety of complex problems on a daily basis. Just yesterday, I had to figure out how to transport rocks down a ledge. I decided to build a ramp out of spare wood planks to allow the wheelbarrow to reach new territory.


Jake built a slide deck that was presented to the CEO of one of the wealthiest companies in the history of the world.

But at the end of the day I bet they don't have this at his corporate headquarters:

    This is SUCH a cool post! It is so creative and distinctive...and the AI Jake and AI CJ just cracks me up. I absolutely love this, as I loved all of the posts from you and Jake and then from your mostly solo journey. Vicarious living can be pretty cool and you and Jake made this a journey for us all. I hope you end your travels well and get home safely!

CJ and Jake both fly out of Boston on September 1st. First stop Morocco. Another Dartmouth '25, Logan, will join them for at least the first couple weeks of their trip. Youssef leads us to the Sahara

Youssef, our guide in the Sahara Desert, is a witty, short man with a nice Toyota Land Cruiser and a love for beautiful women. He is of Berber descent, which is the main ethnic group native to Morocco, predating Islam by thousands of years. He is a certified smooth talker, often charming police officers at patrol stops into letting us through without a bribe. His charisma is less successful when used on Spanish girls we encounter on the road. We have a relationship of mutual amusement with Youssef. Our bumbling American accent clearly entertains him, and his snarky remarks in broken English crack us up in return. He immediately gave us all nicknames — CJ Jake and Logan became Muhammed, Abraham, and Rashid. Logan, however, was sold a dress that he thought was for men (pictured above), and once he donned that Youssef called him Rashida. The Food of Marrakech

Welcome to our food tour. A main mission of this trip is to assimilate with the locals by dressing discreetly (pictured below) and by eating their food ( many pictures below). I think we each consumed approximately 3-4 thousand calories a day justified by two runs for a total of seven miles over the past five days. While we have seen some amazing cultural sites and learned much about Marrakech and Morocco more broadly (plug for Jake's post), much of this trip has been wandering from food to food. CJ preparing for day 1: The rooftop breakfast was always a crowd pleaser, with minimum four types of bread along with assorted dips and toppings (oil, jam, honey, cheese, egg).
